Why a newly renovated office building in uptown Phoenix saw success during pandemic

The Covid-19 pandemic slowed office leasing throughout the country, but in the Valley, some office buildings are faring better than others.

When Bryan Derbyshire, CEO and founder of Protecht, decided to move his company to Phoenix from Newport Beach, California he needed to find an office that was nearly comparable to their former office, which overlooked the ocean.

The company ended up leasing at Casa, which was adaptively reused by Phoenix-based developer George Oliver, who bought and renovated the property in 2019. The developer completed $17 million in renovations on the building, near Northern Avenue and 16th Street in uptown Phoenix.
